How are waitlists used on the Swing platform?
Below are reasons why a waitlist may be used:
- A request is filled and a waitlist is created in case the original substitute becomes unavailable
- A signup list of candidates interested in a long-term request
- A substitute wants to accept a request, but the start time has already passed
Can schools select a substitute off the waitlist that they would prefer to fill a request?
Yes. There is a “choose” button next to each individual on a waitlist. However, it is best to do this as far in advance as possible and preferably not within 24 hours of the start time. You will also need to verbally confirm with the substitute you are choosing.
Are substitutes selected off the waitlist to fill last-minute requests?
Not automatically. If the original substitute cancels the request within 48 hours of the start time, Swing will notify the pool again.
A substitute said he/she accepted a request for today that has already started and was added to a waitlist. Do I need to do anything?
Yes. You’ll need to go to the request page and click the “choose” button next to the substitute’s name.
Are substitutes on the waitlist always available to accept a request?
Not always. Substitutes often put themselves on several waitlists and it is easy to lose track. You’ll need to contact the individual on a waitlist and get verbal confirmation that he/she is available before selecting.
I see several names on a waitlist for a long-term request I posted. How do I know which one is the best candidate for the job?
Swing’s School Engagement Team will be in contact to provide resumes for the candidates who will likely be a good fit for your needs. After receiving the resumes, you can select candidates to call in for an interview. We will work with you through the entire process and after to ensure a successful long-term commitment.
